Why are we using a non-Olathe public library? Because Mid-Continent Public Library (MCPL) has the best local selection of books in Spanish!
Getting a MCPL Card
When it asks for your pickup location you can pick Antioch– this really doesn’t matter right now because we are only going to borrow e-materials, not any physical books.
Registration email: use your school email address!
ON YOUR SCHOOL LAPTOP check your student email for an email from Mid-Continent Public Library. The subject line will be “Activate Your Library Card”. Click this link ONCE!

AFTER you have clicked the activation link you can then CLOSE the browser tab.
Return to your student email. You should see another email from Mid-Continent Public Library- the subject line will be “Welcome to Mid-Continent Public Library”. This email will contain your new library card number. Use your phone to take a photo of this screen!

Open a new browser tab to mymcpl.org and look for the “My Account” in the upper right corner

Now you will enter your new library card number– from the Welcome Email– and your PIN number– which is your birthdate dd/mm/yyyy. Example May 8, 2003 = 05/08/2003

After you have logged into your account (you may also create your own personal username) click the “My Settings” option. Here you can edit your email address to change it to your home email. You can also change your PIN number to one you will remember.
After changing your PIN I suggest writing it on your phone photo of your card number so you have the info in one place.
